Public Notice for a New Permit for Opencut Mining Permit #3204 for Plaggemeyer Pit Site
Public Notice: As required by Section 82-4-432 (5)(6), MCA, Sweet Grass County, PO Box 888, Big Timber, Montana, 59011, Phone 406-932-5140 hereby gives notice that on February 10th, 2020 it received receipt of the Montana Department of Environmental Quality’s determination of administrative completeness for a New Permit for Opencut Mining Permit #3204 for Plaggemeyer Pit Site.
Plaggemeyer Pit site is located in Sweet Grass County 6 miles south of Melville and 14 miles north of Big Timber off of Highway 191 N, this permit is for a 20.2-acre site, of which 24 inches will be stripped and stockpiled for reclamation and overburden materials. Sweet Grass County will bid to crush 1 inch minus gravel for county road maintenance (150,000 ton), which will occur as needed through the pit permit year of 2030, no permanent facilities will be erected on site only stock piles of gravel, with loading equipment. Plaggemeyer Pit site will access Highway 191 N directly across Highway 191 N (east) of Wheeler Creek Road with the following legal description:
Township 3 North, Range 14 East Section 11
This site can be viewed on maps posted at Plaggemeyer Pit entrance site off Highway 191 N, Orchard Lane and Highway 191 N, Sweet Grass County Clerk and Recorders office located at 115 West 5th Avenue in Big Timber, Montana.
